Monument and Memorial Restoration

Scope

To carry out the cleaning of the granite memorial by means of specialist restoration Doff cleaning equipment.

To remove War Memorial to allow new development to commence on waste ground and relocate in new location 500 yards further along the high street.

Carry out releading of missing letters and reblackening of lettering.

Considerations

The war memorial is classed as a war grave and with this in mind the upmost care and respect for the memorial had to be taken into consideration. Consultations with the local authority, residents and the local British Legion had to be undertaken. Research into the correct spelling and identification of part missing names on the memorial had to be researched through the fore mentioned local military regiment records, schools and British Legion records.
