Eco-Friendly Cleaning Alternatives

As a company that provides a broad variety of office and commercial carpet cleaning in Birminghamas well as a whole host of other cleaning services, we think it is important to ensure we use products that are safe, clean and eco-friendly for our staff and yours. Being good to the environment in all areas of life is something that we strive for, and so should you!

It goes without saying that we endeavour to use cleaning products that are as eco-friendly as possible, minimising chemicals and harmful substances in your working environment. You can, of course, go one step further and clean your home without the need for chemicals and expensive cleaning products, too. Many natural substances and products can be found around the home that can be made into very efficient cleaning alternatives.

We've listed a few of our favourites for you to try at home.

In the stock cupboard: baking soda, lemon juice, white vinegar, washing soda and corn starch.

For future reference, a cup is approximately 240ml/g.

  • DIY All Purpose Spray - Half cup of vinegar, quarter cup baking soda, two litres of water
  • DIY Odour Remover - Wipe with white vinegar before rinsing
  • DIY Carpet Stain Remover - Equal parts white vinegar and water. Spray on and leave for a few minutes. Clean with a brush or sponge and warm, soapy water
  • DIY Heavy Duty Carpet Cleaner - Quarter cup of salt, borax and vinegar, each. Mix to a paste and rub onto the stain. Leave for a few hours before hoovering
  • DIY Disinfectant - Two teaspoons borax, four tablespoons white vinegar, three cups hot water and wipe with a damp cloth
  • DIY Drain Cleaner - Half cup salt, four litres of water. Heat, but don't boil. For stronger blockages, try half cup baking soda and half a cup of white vinegar
  • DIY Furniture Polish - Half a cup of warm water and add a few drops of lemon oil. Use a damp cloth to polish, and a soft, dry cloth to finish
  • DIY Window Cleaner - Two teaspoons white vinegar and one-litre warm water. Clean with crumpled up newspaper. Do NOT apply when the sun is shining as it will dry with streaks

All of these eco-friendly cleaning alternatives are ideal for use around the home, and the lack of chemicals means that they are perfectly safe around you and your family.

In the workplace, however, these items are less often to hand and a lot less practical, but that doesn't mean that there isn't an eco-friendly solution available.

If your office or business requires  eco-friendly carpet cleaning in Birmingham, please do not hesitate to contact Relkogroup today to discuss your needs.
